Whitney Bell’s photographs explore the transformative potential of being in the natural world and assert a call to revere and protect it. Following more than twenty years in an urban setting, Bell relocated to the Eastern End of Long Island during a time of personal loss and global upheaval. In search for solace, she forged a relationship with the landscape, wildlife and light of her new environment. There, in solitude, she found inspiration in nature’s resilience and beauty, and a greater understanding of her own humanity and connection to the larger world.
Following a successful career as an interior designer with a boutique design firm in Manhattan, Whitney devoted her attention to the art of photography and resumed her studies at the International Center of Photography. She holds a BA in International Relations from Roanoke College and an AAS in Interior Design from the New York School of Interior Design.
Whitney’s work has been recognized in online publications and juried exhibitions across the Northeast. In the Spring of 2023, Whitney was invited by the notable photographer Janelle Lynch to participate in a weekly Salon where she continues to be mentored and supported by her peers in her artistic endeavors.
